POSITION TITLE:  Field Applications Engineer for Laser machines (Wood Dale, Illinois)

This individual will be based at our Wood Dale, Illinois location.

This position presents an ideal opportunity for the experienced machine operator with good public speaking abilities who wants to do more with their skillset, than the daily grind. You would be a technical liaison between us and the end user. Travel to customer sites will often be required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • On-site machine installation and initial operation training that the customer’s worksite.
  • Perform extensive field application support covering the operation, programming, tooling and fixturing for several lines of vertical and horizontal (future) CNC milling machines.
  • Periodic call center support (helping the customer over the phone)
  • The ability to act as Technical Liaison with the sales force traveling with the sales force.

Education and Experience:

EXPERIENCE:

In addition to the educational requirement, a basic understanding of the fabrication industry, and general shop operations is preferred. Also necessary is competency in the use and operation of calipers, leveling devices, precision indicators, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and other equipment necessary to perform the job function.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

POSITION TITLE: Laser Customer Support Engineer (Wood Dale, Illinois) 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Primary

  • Formal Classroom training: Engineer will function as machine operation instructor in a classroom/lab environment for current Mitsubishi Lasers.
  • Field Applications: travel to customer job site and troubleshoot process, throughput, accuracy and surface quality issues on all versions of Laser products sold by MC Machinery Systems. While primarily these can be resolved by technology or program manipulation, occasionally machine repair or alignment will be necessary.

Secondary

  • Machine Installation: follow-up and verify machine installations/alignments.
  • Phone Support: provide customer support via telephone on application and operation issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Solving machine problems at customer sites in an effort to improve/enhance the performance of their Laser machinery.
  • High power process training to customers both in the classroom and the field
  • Phone support to customers and service personnel as needed.
  • System Software testing, and duplication; Perform proving tests on newly received machine system software and manufacture duplicates for stock.
  • Technical Writing; occasionally tasked to develop training manuals, workbooks and sample projects for use in the classroom

EXPERIENCE:

Qualified candidates must have 3 years set up and operating Laser’s in a job shop environment. Someone with a 2-year degree in the Machining trade with a minimum of 2 years of Laser experience would also qualify. Familiarity with electronic circuitry repair , knowledge of NC programming systems such as MasterCam, AutoCAD, and ESPIRT and/or experience in industrial machine repair (electronic and mechanical) a plus but not required.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of industrial Laser machine maintenance, cutting techniques, programming, controller functions, and troubleshooting techniques, as well as ability to train customers on proper usage of such techniques.
  • Ability to effectively document and communicate ideas, strategies, problems, and solutions in both verbal and written forms to co-workers and customers.

POSITION TITLE:  Customer Support Engineer (California)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Primary:

  • Formal Classroom training: Engineer will function as machine operation instructor in a classroom/lab environment for current Mitsubishi/Ingersoll Sinker and Mitsubishi Wire EDM.

EXPERIENCE:

Qualified candidates must have 3 years set up and operating Wire and/or Sinker EDM's in a job shop environment. Someone with a 2-year degree in the Machining trade with a minimum of 2 years of EDM experience would also qualify. Familiarity with electronic circuitry repair , knowledge of NC programming systems such as MasterCam, AutoCAD, and ESPIRT and/or experience in industrial machine repair (electronic and mechanical) a plus but not required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 2yr Electronic or Technical Degree
  • 2~5 years experience as field service in the machine tool industry a plus
  • Skilled in Electrical measurement and inspection techniques
  • (Voltmeter, Oscilloscope and other measurement equipment)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems
  • (Ballscrews, bearings, gearing and various way systems)
  • Skilled in mechanical measurement and inspection techniques
  • ( Indicators, micrometers, gage blocks and optical comparitor. Laser Interferometer and ballbar a plus )
  • Working knowledge of how to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • CNC programming skills necessary
  • Ability to operate computer using windows operating system
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment
